North Walsham host new opposition tomorrow, as the Vikings look to get back to winning ways.

Despite a trawl through the archives, club officials can not find that Romford and Gidea Park have ever travelled to Scottow before.

There has however been one previous meeting between the clubs, an Eastern Counties Cup game in August 1997 and the evergreen Stuart Loose is, unsurprisingly, the only member of that side who is still playing, although Nick Greenhall is still involved as head coach.

The Essex side sit one place and nine points behind the Vikings with four wins and one draw to show for their efforts. Three of their wins have come at home with the only one on the road against Brentwood back in September.

Greenhall was delighted with the performance last week as the team battled back from an early 15-point deficit to the brink of a draw, losing 32-29 at third-placed Chingford, which ended a five-match winning run for the Vikings.

Without the benefit of flankers Chris Godwin and Mike Rouse, Greenhall called on prop Aki Downing to drop back to the blindside and young student Will Martin to fill Godwin's slot.

Both gained praise for their performances, with Downing winning the Chalk Hill Brewery man of the match award. Godwin is unlikely to have returned to fitness so Martin is almost certain to retain his place but Rouse is back from a work trip to West Africa.

The back division is likely to remain unchanged if James Knight has recovered from an arm injury but Chad Seeley could be on standby.

Elsewhere in London One North, Diss travel to fifth-placed Luton looking to end a run of five straight defeats.
