Swardeston were unable to make it six straight wins in the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League after being pipped in a thrilling title race.

With the weather washing out what would have been a fascinating final day decider they finished 21 points behind season-long Suffolk rivals Sudbury.

Swardeston had the consolation of lifting the Carter Cup after beating Norwich in the final.

It was a solid if unspectacular season for Norfolk who finished fifth in the Minor Counties Championship East Division and were knocked out of the MCCA Knock-out Trophy at the quarter-final stage. Chris Brown's side impressed away from home in the longer form of the game, claiming two wins, but failed to win any of their Festival games at Manor Park.

Rugby

Norfolk's representation in London One North was doubled as Diss had a tremendous season to join North Walsham at a higher level. The men from Mackenders swept all before them in London Two North East.

North Walsham had a solid season just above them, finishing fourth, and grabbed the early bragging rights in October when they won the derby at Scottow 53-19. Norwich comfortably held on to their London Two North status but it was a tough season for Holt, who dropped down to the new regionalised London Three Eastern Counties section, which is currently being dominated by Southwold and Stowmarket.

North Walsham once again got their hands on the Woodfordes Norfolk Senior Cup, beating Diss 43-26 in the final at Holt.

Hockey

Harleston Magpies Ladies represented the county in impressive fashion in the National League, claiming an excellent fourth-place finish in the East Conference. The Magpies' men also had a decent season at a lower level, but never seriously threatened a promotion challenge as they finished fifth in Premier A of the East League. Norfolk now only have one representative at the highest regional level of the men's game, with Dereham going down and Norwich City finishing just outside the promotion places in Premier B.
