Wayne Anderson feels 'hurt' at being deprived of the chance of leading Fakenham Town out in the Norfolk Senior Cup final at Carrow Road.

Following discussions with Ghosts chairman Andrew Jarvis, Anderson revealed he wanted to leave the club at the end of the season.

However, Anderson says Jarvis decided it would be in the best interests of the club for Anderson to go now, meaning the former Dereham Town reserves boss won't be able to lead the Ghosts out in the final against King's Lynn next month.

'I think I deserve the chance to lead the lads out but that's been taken away from me – it's a real kick in the teeth,' said Anderson. 'I feel like I deserve to finish the season but the chairman felt that it was best for me to leave immediately. It's really hurt me.'

It had been rumoured that Anderson wanted to leave Clipbush Park to replace Matt Henman at Dereham following his departure. However, Anderson insists he has no plans to get back into football in the immediate future.

'There will be offers but at the moment I'm happy to just work a few extra weekends and bring a few more pennies in,' said Anderson. 'I've spoken to Matt (Henman) and he is gutted for me. Why would I want to leave Fakenham now when I've got a Senior Cup final to prepare for? It just doesn't make sense.'

Anderson believes strides have been made at the club since Jarvis arrived as chairman, bringing with him former Norwich City boss Nigel Worthington in an ambassadorial role. However, Anderson isn't sure the committee's ambitions matched his own in the long term.

'They have tried to change things and some of it has been really positive,' said Anderson, who placed on record his thanks to everyone who has supported him during his time at Fakenham. 'We've tried to promote youth and I've trained a lot of the youngsters. But I don't know what the ambitions of the club are any more. I wanted to push on for the Ryman in the next three years – I think that probably scared some people at the club.'

The club released a short statement saying a new first team coach will be in place before the end of the season and they will be making no further comment.
