Former Ginetta SuperCup Champion Carl Breeze recently confirmed his return to the series in a bid to regain the crown he lost last year.
In a break with the past the Kings Lynn racer has left the Total Control Racing squad, with whom he has raced with for the past five years, and joined the expanded United Autosports team making its debut in the series this year.
'It is with a heavy heart that I leave the TCR team, with whom I have driven for the past five years. However, my aim now is to take United Autosports to championship success and I look forward to working with my new team-mate Luke Davenport to try and deliver both the drivers and team's championships,' remarked Breeze on his move.
Breeze first raced in the Ginetta series in 2009 and finished in third place before becoming Vice Champion in 2010 and 2011 before taking the crown in 2012.
However despite winning five of the first eight races last year Breeze was hit by a mysteries mid season car problem which saw the local racer lucky to hang onto second place in the series at the finish.
Breeze is hoping that United Autosports' established reputation will aid his career progression. 'I am working extremely hard to become a professional racing driver, and one of the added incentives of being with United Autosports is their career path with the team in the BTCC and sports cars respectively.'
'I am really excited to be driving for them this season. They are incredibly professional and I now have to focus on trying to do the business for them this year on and off track.'
The new partnership was soon in action with the opening three races in the Michelin supported series taking place at Brands Hatch last weekend with Breeze having to shake down his new car at the meeting resulting in a tenth place start for the opening event.
A stunning start and opening lap, a trademark of the Kings Lynn racer, saw him in sixth place before steadily working up to fourth place at the finish.
'Still lots of work to be done to our new car', twitted Breeze. 'United Autosport working hard for tomorrow's races, doing a great job'.
Sunday's events didn't go well for the Bluechip supported racer as his early morning race ended at the first corner after he became entangled with a pair of his rivals.
Breeze made a demon start and tried to follow leader Andrew Watson through the opening corner but second placed Janie Orton was heading for the same track position resulting in the pair making contact followed by Breeze receiving a punt from Harry Woodhead which put him in the gravel trap.
This resulted in Breeze starting the final race from the rear of the grid but he was soon back in the pits with damage, possible as a result of the earlier incident, as his team mate Davenport went on to take victory.
