Happisburgh came out on top when two teams that were promoted into Division One last summer locked horns.

They welcomed their old friends Belton to Blacksmiths Lane on a windsweep afternoon. And after a lot of effort from Mike Trivett, Peter Dennis, Scott Cain and Robert Breeze the fixture was able to take place on a Saturday when very few were played due to the persistent rain.

Captain Wayne Catchpole again loss the toss and the hosts were asked to bat first as they looked to bounce back from last weekend's disappointing loss to Ketteringham Hall. Carl Allen (4) soon departed but Robert Breeze (20) and opener Ryan Sturgess (41) steadied the ship. But at 83-5, and with the visitors' bowling attack on top, Belton smelt blood. Tom Knight (5-24) in particular was wreaking havoc. However, they didn't bank on the middle order resistance from Scott Cain (18), Paul Ames (26 not out) and the excellent Aaron Underwood – the North Walsham Scaffolding man of the match – who struck a fine 51 to help their team to 195-all-out.

It was a total that the away side never really looked like getting close to with Carl Allen (4-19) and Sturgess (4-22) taking control as Happisburgh won by 93 runs and picked up 25 league points.

Elsewhere, during a rain-affected weekend, even the weather couldn't halt Great Yarmouth's impressive start to their defence of their top-flight title. After last week's 10-wicket victory over Rollesby, Yarmouth were forced to play a reduced 30-over match against Ketteringham. Yet that didn't stop them from edging out Hall by four runs.

Mark Thompson laid the foundations for Yarmouth's 165-4 with 52 and he was ably supported by opener Matthew Sole who fell just six runs short of his half-century. But four of his 44 proved to be ultimately vital as Hall reached 161 – falling just short of their second win of the campaign.

Sprowston B beat Aylsham St Giles by two wickets in the only Division Two clash to beat the wet weather while Costessey, inspired by Graham Taylor's 68, saw off Rackheath by 95 runs in Division Three and Garboldisham B triumphed by seven wickets at Winterton A.

In a game cut down to 20 overs, Hethersett & Tas Valley B made short work of beating Norwich Bystanders by nine wickets. Cameron Clarke ended with fine figures of 3-5 before Ross Jones hit an unbeaten 52. The other two matches in Division Five saw Old Catton B win by four wickets at Halvergate while Gillingham enjoyed a 53-run win over New Buckenham. In Division Seven, Horsford cruised to an eight-wicket win over North Walsham & Bacton. Beetley hammered Beeston by 113 runs.

No matches survived in Division Four and Six.
