Dereham handed Premier A leaders Harleston their first league defeat of the season – the 2-1 result seeing Magpies slip to third in the table..

Twin brothers Mike and Ric Timm were both on target as Dereham recorded a first-ever league victory over their illustrious rivals.

Both teams combined to clear the pitch of snow in order to ensure it was in perfect condition for the mid-day start. And they were rewarded with a fascinating contest between two teams of contrasting styles.

Magpies dominated possession and were calm and collected throughout, while Dereham's frenetic, high-tempo counter-attacking style constantly gave the meanest defence in the league plenty to think about.

Dereham grabbed an early lead when Mike Timm took full advantage of a rare unforced error from outstanding Harleston defender David Ling. His attempted cross-field pass fell straight to the Dereham attacker, who powered into the circle and crashed an unstoppable shot past Magpies goalkeeper Reece Leonard.

Harleston pulled themselves level in the 21st minute when Tristan Baines picked out Andy Hipwell for a smart finish.

The winner arrived 12 minutes from time when man of the match Will Edwards won a penalty corner. The initial strike from Mark Braybrook was brilliantly saved by Harleston keeper Leonard, but Ric Timm was on hand to snaffle up the rebound.

Dereham were back in action on Sunday but could not repeat their Saturday heroics, an injury hit line-up losing 3-1 at Cambridge University.

Norwich City followed up last week's win over the East Premier B leaders by hitting six without reply away to relegation candidates Waltham Forest. But they had to wait until ten minutes before the interval for Jez Elliott to make the breakthrough with a reverse stick shot past the keeper.

Five minutes later Chris Wardale doubled the lead and City started the second period well, adding a third after five minutes when Elliott took a return pass from Nick Jones to set up Wardale. Two further goals came midway through the half from Pete Morgan and Elliott, who was again the provider when Wardale completed his hat-trick. With Havering losing and Wisbech not playing City moved up to third ahead of their meeting with second placed Cambridge University 2nds.

Norwich Dragons came from two down to beat Bourne Deeping 3-2 in Division Two North.

They fell behind after failing to deal with a long aerial ball and Bourne went two-up early in the second half.

Dragons hit back with a deflected goal from Garnett Jones and Lewis Wilkins calmly equalised before Rupert Snelling completed the comeback with eight minutes to go.

The meeting of the top two in Division 4NE saw Norwich Dragons 2nds miss their chance to peg back leaders Ipswich East Suffolk 2nds.

Dragons had won every game this season apart from their earlier meeting with the Suffolk team, but it was the visitors who emerged with their perfect record intact after winning 3-1. They only took control, however, after Dragons captain Cley Hamilton sustained a hamstring injury. IES responded by scoring twice before the interval and added a third early in the second half before Dan Cheesman replied.

Norwich City 4ths avenged a 6-5 defeat at Watton earlier in the season with a 2-1 win. Watton went ahead against the run of play but City equalised before the interval when Ady Marr slalomed past several defenders to square forArmstrong to tap-in. Marr scored the winner himself in the second half when he intercepted with his reverse stick before beating two men and stroking the ball past the onrushing keeper.

Norwich Dragons 3rds won 2-1 at Lowestoft Railway 2nds with goals from Matt Jenkins and Adrian Kemp to stay unbeaten at the top of the Division 5NE.

Norwich City 5ths won 3-1 at Felixstowe 3rds. Defensive kingpin Haren Patel opened the scoring from a new short corner routines and Joe Fisher made it 2-0 before Felixstowe replied just before the interval. Guy Marchant completed the scoring after beating several players.

In Division 6NE Norwich Dragons 4ths handed leaders Ipswich 3rds only their second defeat of the season as they won 3-2 with goals from Dave Thornton and Ollie King after an own goal opener.
