In the City League this week it was the singles championship with 17 ladies taking part.

The last lady standing was Maureen Dease from Anglian Windows who reached the last eight before losing to Costessey's Jack Barrett. In the semi-finals Sprowston's Terry Fletcher played ex-Sprowston player Colin Coman and after a game which went to an extra end Fletcher won 7-6. In the other semi Tony Turner of Thorpe Marriott played Jack Barrett and beat him 10-4. In the Final Fletcher was slow to start and no matter what he tried he could not close the gap and Tony Turner ran out 8-4 winner to claim his second title of the season.

In the League both Horsford teams are charging up the league – Heroes are now second with the Bowls Club third. The Heroes beat County Council at home 13-1 and they then played First Bus away and won 14-0.

Horsford Bowls club beat Felthorpe 12-2 at home. Next came Jarrolds and this game was killed off in the first half as Horsford took a 40-shot lead after R Burrage had won 26-6 & S Warnes 23-3 in the second half D Seaton won 12-8 and D Claxton 17-6 to complete a 14-0 win. Jarrolds then played at Costessey and were beaten 13-1.
