Lowestoft Town director of football Craig Fleming is planning to field a reserve side when his side take on Heybridge Swifts in the League Cup at Crown Meadow this evening, kick-off 7.45pm.
The Blues' small squad has been beset by injuries lately with Fleming able to name just 12 senior players in the matchday squad for the Blues' 2-0 win over Kingstonian on Saturday.
With the league the main priority Fleming is loathe to use many of the players that performed so impressively at the weekend and will give some of the club's youngsters from the reserves some game time.
'I think we will look to field largely be a reserve side,' he said. 'We've got some young lads that are desperate for games and we can't ask the same 12/13 players to keep going and going like we have been recently.
'It could be a good opportunity to use some of the youngsters we've got.'

Chris Henderson is likely to be out for a couple more weeks with a thigh strain but there is better news on Dan Gleeson, who had to be substituted at half-time on Saturday. Fleming revealed the former Luton defender was suffering from a virus against Kingstonian and had not suffered a recurrence of a long-standing back problem.
Jake Jessup could be set for a run-out tonight with the former Yarmouth shot-stopper preferred to the more senior, Will Viner, on the bench recently.
Viner, who has had to play second fiddle to Ashlee Jones since signing for the Trawlerboys from Thurrock in the summer, played for the reserves last weekend and a loan move could be in the offing.
'Ashlee has been tremendous for us,' said Fleming. 'Will had a spell on the bench for us and travelling with us but he just felt like he needed games so he went with the reserves.'
