Lowestoft Town have a plan to upset the odds this afternoon when they come up against Evo-Stik Central Premier high-flyers Coalville.

After successive defeats, the Blues will go into match as heavy underdogs against the Leicestershire side, who sit in second place in the table and yet to taste defeat at home.

However, assistant boss Andy Reynolds insists a lot of work has gone in on the training ground since he and Jamie Godbold took charge for this kind of scenario.

'We've got to try and find as high a level of performance as we can,' he said. 'We need to work harder than them and control the game as much as we can, whichever way that pans out.

'We have a blueprint for when we come up against very good sides, which Coalville are, and it's about sticking to that. You don't necessarily have to have control of the football to have control of the game.

'It's going to be a long day against very good opposition but we've got to try and come up with something.'

Lowestoft will at least have Shaun Bammant back available after he missed the FA Cup defeat against Hanwell at the weekend through suspension.

Jacek Zielonka will miss the game with a knee injury whilst Travis Cole remains a long-term absentee.

Conor McKendry, on loan at Ipswich, could stay in the side after a bright display last weekend although Reynolds admitted the manner of defeat left a bitter taste.

'Conor shone in that first half and you can see that he has got a lot of talent,' added Reynolds. 'But the manner of that defeat was disappointing.

'We finished the first half in a strong position but in the second half we didn't apply ourselves in the same way. The second half was a bit of a non event to be honest but we've not dealt with a ball into the box and paid the price.'

Reynolds revealed that the management team had held discussions with the squad about improving their discipline

'We have got a senior leadership team within the squad and it's just about having a chat with the lads,' he said. 'No-one is going to argue if you get a yellow card for a foul or something like that - these things happen. But it's about cutting out the silly cards when you don't need to get involved.

'You might not necessarily suffer in that game from the card but it could come back to bite you down the line and we can't afford for that to happen.

'We haven't got a big enough squad to be able to absorb that sort of thing.'
