Lowestoft Town ready to welcome Norwich City

Lowestoft Town’s pre-season campaign really gets into full swing tomorrow when they entertain Norwich City at The Amber Dew Events Stadium, formerly Crown Meadow (kick-off 3pm).

Whilst crucial in Lowestoft’s preparations for the new season, the match will also be Blues legend Micky Chapman’s testimonial to mark the 33 years’ service he gave to the Trawlerboys.

The match was actually due to be played last summer until a freak thunderstorm meant the match had to be postponed.

The Canaries promised to return the following summer and they have been as good as their word meaning Chapman will finally get the send-off he deserves.

“Last year the situation was really unfortunate - not just for the football club, but for Mick as well,” said manager Ady Gallagher.

“There were storm clouds over the club in more ways than one but we’ve moved on and there’s a real buoyancy around the place.

“We’re very grateful to Norwich for coming back after last year. It’s good for the players to be involved against a team of that calibre.”

The match will be the first opportunity for City fans to see Daniel Farke’s side on these shores and there are still a limited number of tickets available (£10 for adults, £5 for U16s) for the clash as supporters can pay on the gate.

Gallagher knows his side are in for a difficult afternoon but hopes both his players, and Blues fans, relish the occasion.

“We’ve got to be prepared to chase shadows at times but we want to do the best we can. It’s an honour for us to be playing against a team like Norwich City.”

Gates open from 12 noon.
