The Norfolk built Lotus Elise's opens the Snetterton motor racing season this Saturday as they have done for the past few seasons contesting the Lotus Cup UK, Lotus Elise Trophy and Lotus UK Speed Championships.

The Cup UK and Elise Trophy runners will jointly take to the 300 layout for three events during the day making for a very hectic schedule.

James Little only made a one-off appearance in the Cup UK last season but the former frontrunner will be hoping to start this year's campaign off with a trio of podium visits and at least one victory from the three races.

Third place in the series demonstrated Bob Drummond's consistency and he would like to build upon his podium place at the Norfolk circuit, the venue for the final meeting last year.

Last year Craig Denman missed out on capturing the Elise Trophy, as William Stacey held a season long lock on the series, and is back in an effort to take the crown this year.

Axel van Nederveen secured fourth in 2017 and with that experience he could offer Denman a challenge for the title while Long Stratton's Simon Oakley is looking to improve upon his sixth place in the points table at the end of last year.

Completing the action for the locally built sports cars will be a Sprint event, which is a great way to feel your way into the sport without the pressures of racing, with Mads Petersen's Exige S V6 a leading contender for fastest time of the day.

There is very little to match the speed and excitement of the British Superkarts round the twists and turns of Snetterton with reigning MSA Champion Daniel Clark, a double winner on his last visit to the Norfolk venue, keen to test out his new for 2018 machinery.

Gavin Bennett and Paul Platt will be hoping that refinements to their current outfits will allow them the chance to challenge Clark's dominance of the Snetterton sweeps. Completing the seven races, plus Sprint, programme will be a pair of Allcomers events, which will allow competitors the chance to blow the winter cobwebs away before the season gets fully underway, with the opening race starting at 11.20am.
