Norwich were due to travel to Watford to play Tabard in the RFU Intermediate Cup tomorrow but the hosts, who are having a difficult season, have conceded the fixture.

Coach Jonny O'Brien had planned to rest numerous players to enable him to assess several others that are potential first team material, including 18-year- old fly-half Ashley Piggott.

With the huge reorganisation this season of the Eastern Counties league structure, Norwich Lions have found themselves in a league containing many other club's first teams and have consequently hard going. They have lost six of their seven fixtures so far in the 2N division.

With playing in the Norwich first team, it has not been possible for O'Brien to personally assess the progress of Lions players so this weekend is a great opportunity for him to check on how players are performing.

The first team will all be rested and the Lions will play a friendly at Beeston Hyrne against Thetford first team where the players have the opportunity to catch the coach's eye.

The AXV are also at home against Medics II.
