A scintillating year of progress has helped convince Lewis Kerr he can become an asset for the King's Lynn Stars this season.
The Heacham-based rider, who turned 24 yesterday, shone in the National League for the Young Stars and Premier-League Newcastle in 2013 to earn some guest slots in speedway's top flight. But after being picked at reserve for his club's senior side this time around, Kerr is confident he can shine in the Elite League on a full-time basis.
The Norfolk ace said: 'My confidence is sky high. I didn't really have that bad of a meeting anywhere last year. I was running on confidence everywhere so hopefully I can bring it into the Elite League. I need to be winning both reserves races really and then take the other heats from there and pick up points where I can and do a good job.'
The homegrown talent has spent his whole career competing at the Norfolk Arena for the Young Stars before moving up to Rob Lyon's outfit. And the rising talent admits it's a dream come true to have landed a slot among the cream of Lynn's crop.
'When I first started out I wanted to ride for Lynn,' said the man who will line-up alongside Lewis Rose this term.
'They were in the Premier League then, so to do it in the Elite League, I'm over the moon and really looking forward to it. I've got some good gear under me, so I should have some good speed under me.'
