The acid test for King's Lynn Town's new management team comes on Saturday afternoon, in front of an expectant home crowd.

Robbie Back and Neil Fryatt have taken over the reins on a permanent basis.

And while they rode something of a wave of local support during their caretaker period – when they won two FA Cup games and gained a league point on the road – they know better than anyone that football can be an unforgiving game.

Their predecessor, Simon Clark, was appointed amid great expectations, but his reign lasted just half a dozen league games.

Back and Fryatt know the honeymoon period has passed and that Saturday's visit by Banbury is all about winning as they bid to rise up the Southern Premier Central Division table – it's a fact of footballing life that is not lost on Back.

'The fact is that we are sitting in 19th place in the table at the moment and we must start collecting points quickly to move ourselves up to where we feel we should be,' he said.

'There are still an awful lot of points to play for so we will have to see where we go from here.

'Banbury have enjoyed a very good start to their season and obviously are a very good team, but I also have to say that I feel that we are also a very good team complemented by some very good players.

'Myself and Neil will be approaching and preparing for the game just like we have all of the others we have taken charge of to date. It's all about ourselves and what we do, not the opposition.'

The Linnets have no major injury doubts ahead of the game, with striker Michael Gash pressing for a start after returning to the squad last weekend following a lay-off due to a dead leg.

Banbury will be without Lee Henderson, who will serve a one-match suspension after being sent off in their FA Cup defeat by Bath City.
