Picking up that elusive first away clean sheet of the season is certainly very much at the forefront of Gary Setchell's mind.

King's Lynn Town make the long trip to Liverpool today looking for a maiden shut-out on the road this term less than 48 hours after their 3-0 Boxing Day defeat at Stamford. The Linnets haven't been breached seven times on their own turf and now Setchell is hoping to see something similar at Marine this afternoon in their 13th away game.

Lynn's boss said: 'We've got to get a result today and then we've got to beat Barwell at home (New Year's Day).

'But we're putting so much pressure on our home performances because you fall away, away from home, then it's a must-win game. If we'd have got something at Stamford, and we get something at Marine, then Barwell is a little bit of a freebie.

'A mistake, a missed chance, a bad day at the office, a referee's decision, then it all gets harder and harder. We've just got to be careful we don't slip into a little bit of a rut. We had the massive high on Saturday (beating AFC Fylde) and we were grinning from ear-to-ear and we had the lows on Boxing Day.

'We let ourselves down (at Stamford) with sloppiness. We've got young players and we're just a little bit inconsistent for my liking. This clean sheet away from home thing has got to be addressed. We set the team up at Stamford to try and keep a clean sheet, just as we did on Saturday, and we conceded after five minutes from a set piece.

'I'm not going to complain though. The lads give us everything they've got most weeks. We're going to get better.'

The reformed Walks outfit sit 10th in the Evo-Stik Premier Division on their maiden campaign at Step Three of the non-league ladder. However, they have lost their last four away league games, conceding 11 goals in the process.

Marine, who have played a match more, have the same number of points as Setchell's side and also go into the fixture on the back of a festive reverse against high-flying Chorley.

Lynn's manager admitted that captain Ryan Clarke had 'taken a knock' last time out while tireless midfielder Dan Quigley is 'out on his feet' following another all-action display. The pair could be rotated with changes to the travelling club's line-up expected at the Arriva Stadium.

Setchell, who admitted he has made a mistake by picking the same starting XI for his team's last two clashes, said: 'We've got to show consistent desire.

'There's got to be changes. Jake Jones and Duffs (Rob Duffy) when they came on, I thought were very, very good. But there was one or two stale performances. I've got a lot of young players who have played a lot of games. And it gets harder. This is a very, very unforgiving league we're in.'
