Striker Ewan Clarke's temporary move up the A47 has been tipped to kick-start the season of his club's fierce rivals.

The King's Lynn Town frontman has joined Wisbech Town on 'loan' for two months as Steve Appleby's side look to bounce back from two heavy United Counties Premier Division defeats on the spin.

Having lost former Linnet Chris Bacon in the summer, the Fenmen's boss insists his new recruit's presence is a major boost to his attacking options.

Appleby, whose team travel to AFC Kempston Rovers today, said: 'I don't want to put too much pressure on Ewan but he's just what we're looking for. He's a big strong boy who can look after himself and bring others into play. It's what we've been missing. He's a quality player, who has shown already that he score goals at Lynn, and hopefully he can come and enjoy his football here.

'A lot has been written about Wisbech this last week, which shows just how far we have come. We've got used to winning games, but like we don't get carried away when we do, I'm not panicking that we've lost a couple.'

Clarke, 23, the brother of Lynn's Ryan, signed for Gary Setchell's men – who play two levels above the Fenmen – in the summer. He scored once during pre-season and has also bagged an Evo-Stik Premier Division goal.
