Gary Setchell believes Liam Fryatt's upbringing will help him continue his family's success story at King's Lynn Town.

The 18-year-old made his senior debut during this summer's pre-season friendly at Dereham Town – the club he played for before joining the Linnets. It was the first time the midfielder had lined up alongside brother Ryan, 20, who himself has become an integral part of Setchell's squad. With the duo being watched on from the dugout by their father, and Lynn assistant Neil, it now looks likely that three generations of the Fryatts will shine together at The Walks in the very near future.

Setchell said: 'Joff's (reserve boss Jonathan Hawes) been singing his praises from a great height. He's a good trainer. He's another Fryatt breed if you know what I mean. He's a well-drilled lad, he's organised, he'll be a good pro – you haven't got to worry about that. He comes from good stock. And he can play.

'He's not scared to make a mistake. He went on against Dereham and didn't try and get through it, he tried to make an impression. You can tell a lot from a young lad when they go on the pitch. Some try and nick through the game without making any mistakes or embarrassing themselves and some try and go out and make an impression, and that's what I thought he did.'

Fryatt senior starred for Lynn during a successful non-league playing career. He has become Setchell's trusted right-hand man and is also an UEFA B qualified coach. Ryan, a defender who is on contract until the end of the new season, played for Norwich City as a teenager before linking up with his father at The Walks.

Hot prospect Liam has started his term in the Thurlow Nunn First Division with the club's reserves. But Setchell doesn't think it will be long before he's playing under his management regularly.

'He'll have a good season with Joff at a good level,' added Setchell.

'And then who knows? If he plays for the reserves like he did for us for 20 minutes against Dereham he'll be knocking on the door sooner rather than later.'
