Ian Culverhouse can be forgiven for casting an eye towards the skies this week.

The Linnets big Easter Monday home game against play-off rivals Kettering Town was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch, and with the end of the season fast approaching, the last thing Culverhouse wants is to see the club secretary having to rearrange more games.

The Kettering visit has already been pushed back to next Thursday – hardly ideal when Lynn have another game just two days later.

But no one beats Mother Nature, which is why Culverhouse can only keep a weather eye on the situation ahead of today's home game against Merthyr.

'I have to admit I have been keeping an eye on the weather predictions for this week and Saturday and thankfully it's looking a lot better than it has been of late,' he told the club's official website.

'Myself and the players were disappointed that Monday was off, but I have seen pictures of the ground and there was no way we could have played on there.

'The rearranged date is not great (April 12) as it's 48 hours ahead of the trip to Slough. The problem is that Kettering are behind with their fixtures and are still involved with their County Cup and it has left us few options when slotting the game in.

'Looking to Saturday and it's going to be another 'dig deep and achieve a win' afternoon. It wasn't the best of games when we went there before Christmas but we got the result (1-0, Michael Gash) and I will be more than happy if it's similar on Saturday.

'Performances now are not the important thing – it's just a results business and continuing to accumulate as many points as possible over the next three weeks and then we will see where we are.'

Lynn go into the game on the back of a thumping 5-1 win at Stratford Town a week ago.

'We played very well at Stratford and the early goals settled us quickly,' added Culverhouse. 'We'll be looking to impose ourselves on them and manage the game.

'I know that Merthyr will make things tough for us and I'm told by some of our backroom people they always put up a tough fight when they are here so I know what to expect.'
