Businessman Guy Nicholls has pledged his immediate future to King's Lynn – despite his disappointment over last season.

Nicholls, a loyal backer of axed Stars man Chris Holder, admitted he was shocked the move to Norfolk didn't work out for his rider last year.

'I'm not here to go into the reasons why, but we've backed Chris for a long time and I was surprised it didn't work out with him last year,' he said. 'These things happen in business and now Chris is facing a big season and so are King's Lynn and we are very pleased to continue supporting the club.'

The 2018 team will be known as the King's Lynn Tru Plant Stars.

Nicholls said: 'I love the sport of speedway and I'm pleased to remain involved and support the Stars for what promises to be an exciting season. Speedway is a great sport. I'm pleased to see Niels-Kristian Iversen back at King's Lynn, it's important for any team to have a big hitter as number one and Niels brings that to the table.'
