Belle Vue 39, King's Lynn Stars 54

King's Lynn claimed yet another away scalp when they claimed maximum points at Belle Vue.

Every member of the team contributed to a convincing win against a team that had previously been beaten at their home track only once this season.

Guest Steve Worrall, a Belle Vue asset, was only beaten by a home rider once all night, as every rider won a race.

It was a nervy start to the meeting for the Stars, as World Cup hero Niels Kristian Iversen almost missed the start. He managed to beat the Manchester traffic by the narrowest of margins, however, and ran out convincing winner of heat one.

After Lynn's reserves ran out for a 5-1 in heat two, Kenneth Bjerre showed his Grand Prix credentials by holding off Craig Cook for a win, but Rory Schlein looked unusually slow at the back. Nicklas Porsing then made it four wins out of four for the visitors, as the lead was stretched to six points.

Schlein put to bed any opening heat problems behind him when he ran out ahead of Belle Vue no.1 Matej Zagar in heat five.

The Aces claimed their first race win of the evening in heat six, after Iversen was excluded for falling in the initial running, but that was irrelevant after the very next heat. The young pairing of Worrall and Lambert superbly secured the Stars' second 5-1 of the evening. The two might be short of experience, but they team rode to perfection to hold off the persistent challenge of Michael Palm Toft.

Nicholls claimed a win as the points were shared in heat nine, before Worrall kept his unbeaten record intact by winning the second reserve race and extending Lynn's lead to 10.

Zagar won heat 10 going for double points after getting round both Schlein and Bjerre, but by keeping Palm Toft at the back, the damage was minimal.

The meeting was well and truly won in the very next heat. After all four riders claimed the lead at some point in the opening two corners, it was Robert Lambert who got ahead of Nicholls and Craig Cook, expertly shepherded home by Iversen for a Lynn 5-1.

Porsing and Rose won heats 13 and 14, before the points were shared in the last race as Lynn's title push received another boost.
