King's Lynn Stars put in a brave effort before going down 49-41 to Wolverhampton at Monmore.
Former Lynn favourite Rory Schlein led the way for the hosts with a faultless maximum while Robert Lambert was the leading scorer for the Stars by some distance.
Wolverhampton: Rory Schlein 15, Jacob Thorssell 11, Ashley Morris 7+1, Sam Masters 7, Kyle Howarth 3+2, Nathan Greaves 3+2, Cameron Heeps 3+1. King's Lynn: Robert Lambert 14+1, Ty Proctor 7+1, Niels-Kristian Iversen 6, Thomas Jorgensen 4+2, Michael Palm Toft 4, Lewis Kerr 3+2, Kasper Andersen 3+1.
Lynn moved swiftly to sign Michael Palm Toft after fans' favourite Lewis Rose stood down from his position. The 28-year-old informed club bosses on Thursday night of his desire to take a break from the sport after a troubled night for Newcastle in their heavy defeat at Ipswich in the Championship.
A new team declaration was submitted to the sport's governing including Palm Toft and the Dane started a third stint with the Tru Plant Stars at Wolverhampton.
