King's Lynn pulled clear of their Elite League play-off rivals tonight at the Norfolk Arena.

Rob Lyon's men moved 10 points ahead of fifth-placed Coventry in the race for a top four spot after turning on the power to quell a determined Wolves' outfit spearheaded by grand prix racer Freddie Lindgren. Kenneth Bjerre grabbed the vital heat 15 win to secure all three league points.

'That was the aim tonight - to get all three points,' said the Dane. 'We want to get into that play-offs. We knew in heat 15 we just had to get a 3-3 but I made a start even though we knew it was just about getting second or third. Personally, I was disappointed to drop two points. I lost one in my first ride and then in heat 13 Puk (Niels-Kristian Iversen) was making a few riding mistakes and Freddie came past both of us. I was a bit disappointed but the main thing is we got the win.'

Lindgren smoothly dived across Bjerre into the first turn of the meeting before Ricky Wells trapped into the setting sunshine in the reserves. Olly Allen forced Team GB squad mate Tai Woffinden wide in the next - then the oungster had to bail out as his unmanned bike careered across the inner concrete for fully ten metres. Woffinden thankfully walked unaided to the pits after being excluded as the primary cause of the stoppage. Allen and Mads Korneliussen trapped Ludvig Lindgren in a home pincer on the re-run for a routine maximum. Iversen and the experienced Peter Karlsson served up a masterclass of controlled speedway, but the home racer prevailed despite the ex-Lynn racer's daring inside dart. Filip Sitera cashed in on Wells' unfortunate tumble to moved Lynn six clear.

Captain Allen's tumble gifted Wolverhampton the chance to hit back in kind with Freddie Lindgren and Saddlebow specialist Ty Proctor subduing Korneliussen. Normal service was resumed when Bjerre served up a processional flag in the next but Karlsson continued the theme of the night with a bottom bend bail out handing Sam Masters the minor point for a home heat advantage. Iversen's smart cut back did for Woffinden after the young gun looked quicker in the opening skirmishes – but Lee Complin's joust with Ludvig Lindgren proved a delicious first course. Lynn's Berwick reserve dictated from the tapes until Ludvig Lindgren pounced before Complin responded only to run wide exiting the final turn to lose out on a point by a wheel length.

Sitera conjured a 'basketball-style' block to fashion a sliver of daylight for Masters to swing wide to square off heat eight behind Proctor as Lynn reached the interval four clear. Allen trapped sublimely on the restart but Korneliussen earned the plaudits for a gutsy last bend assault to stun Tyson Burmeister. Iversen rode the kerb superbly to inflict a first reverse on Freddie Lindgren in heat 11 before Sitera swooped around Burmeister to chase home Allen. The visitors' number one clawed Wolves back into the contest with a breathless heat 13 tactical raid after Bjerre and Iversen led until half way down the final lap to reduce the arrears. Woffinden claimed the penultimate flag but Lynn squared off the minor points to secure victory – leaving Bjerre to secure a maximum three league points in the finale.
