Jessica-Jane Applegate has earned the chance to defend her title at the Paralympics in Rio later this year.
The 19-year-old Norfolk star qualified with a time of 2:05.63 minutes in the women's S14 200m freestyle final at the British Para-Swimming International Meet in Glasgow this afternoon.
The City of Norwich Swimming Club member missed out on qualifying for the SB14 100m breaststroke and the S14 100m backstroke at the weekend but takes part in the SM14 200m individual medley tomorrow.
In the heats Applegate finished second in 2:06.76, behind winner Bethany Firth (2:04.65). Then in the final Firth, from Northern Ireland, broke the world record with a time of 2:03.70 and Applegate was again second, with 2:05.63 enough to qualify for Rio as well.
