Jason Boutell of Team Velovelocity.co.uk won the East District CA 10-mile championship on the A11 from Besthorpe, which had been re-arranged after being rained off in June.

The original field of 91 was depleted by about half, partly because some riders had finished their season. It was wind-assisted going towards Norwich and the return was hard.

Boutell won in 20:32, beating Mark Arnold of Team Pedal Revolution.co.uk into second place by four seconds and Daniel Bloy of King's Lynn CC into third with 20:45. The fastest lady was Laura Gambling of CC Breckland with 24:26

Steve Rush, the organiser, was full of praise for fourth-placed Charlie Nurse of North Norfolk Wheelers CC, whose 21:06 was a personal best by 43 seconds. Nurse started riding last season and this event was his fourth or fifth open, so with another winter of training he should come out even stronger next year.

Lowestoft's cycling club, Velo Club Baracchi, re-lived the tradition behind its name with the annual Baracchi Trophy two-up time trial on Sunday on the 25-mile Somerleyton sporting course.

The club, formed in 1978, was named after a former major north Italian two-up time trial for professionals run between 1950 and 1990. The Lowestoft version of the Trofeo Baracchi is awarded to club members.

Ali Banks and Paul Bedford won in 1-07:31. They beat Steve Summons and James Moore by five seconds. The third team were last minute entrants Paul Dennington and Mark Newnham in 1-08:51 on road bikes.

Faster times were recorded by Gt Yarmouth CC's riders. Ben Mackett and Lewis Roberts were quickest with 1-02:53 and Kevin Coman and Phil Denby next with 1-06:02.
