King's Lynn Town host arguably the biggest game in their short history when Blue Square Premier AFC Telford United arrive at The Walks today.

Lynn, reformed after the original club was wound up in the High Court in December 2009, have already hosted Coalville Town in an FA Vase semi-final.

However, this afternoon is the first time they have welcomed a team from non-league's top tier for a competitive clash. And with a crowd of more than 1,000 expected at The Walks, FA Trophy fever is gripping the town.

'We're very, very excited. We have come a long way in this competition. I stupidly said there's not much mileage in the Trophy and look how wrong I've been,' said Linnets boss Gary Setchell. 'It's been a fantastic run and we've been underdogs in every round we've played – and we will be even more so today. Telford are a class act. The gulf between the Conference (Blue Square Premier) and the rest of non-league is big.

'Even when Lynn were a Conference North side they lost 5-0 to Cambridge United and 5-1 to Kidderminster Harriers. It just shows how big our task is.'

The winner of today's second-round tie will pocket 6,000 prize money, a place in the last 16, and be one step closer to reaching a Wembley final.

Setchell's men face a huge task to prolong their dream but can take heart from the fact they've seen off four higher-level outfits — Barwell, Carshalton, Eastbourne and Worksop — to set up this afternoon's match.

The Lynn boss said: 'We have got a game plan. People maybe thought at half-time against Eastbourne they were going to run out winners but we stayed in the game, scored, and then there only looked one winner.

'There's a belief that we can win the game. The players believe it, hopefully the fans do, and if we stick together anything can happen.'
