Horsford's Sophie Wright proved her class by securing a podium finish on her world debut.
The 16-year-old, part of British Cycling's Junior Academy, followed up her first appearance at international level – where she shook off a knee problem to finish eighth in Italy – to come third in Switzerland during Sunday's first round of the UCI Junior MTB (mountain bike) Series.
Wright said: 'I was gridded 34th out of 65 riders but managed to work my way close to the front by the top of the first climb, which I excel at. After some really tough racing I 'emptied the tank' on the last lap and attacked for third place. I'm thrilled with the result.'
