It was a mixed evening for two of King's Lynn Town's strikers last night as Robbie Harris was released while Danny Beaumont agreed to stay at the club.

The revolving door at The Walks has been in full swing so far this summer with a host of players arriving and departing as Gary Setchell prepares his squad for higher-level football.

Online rumours had suggested an unhappy Beaumont was the next Linnet to be on his way but the former Dereham Town striker ended the speculation by committing his immediate future to Lynn.

Setchell said: 'I had a really positive chat with Danny. There's been a lot of talk about him wanting to leave but we're both happy he's decided to stay.

'He has a year left on his contract and this news should now quash rumours that he wasn't happy here last season. He's excited about the challenges that await and is looking forward to pushing for a place in the team.'

The 22-year-old arrived at Lynn last summer with a huge reputation after scoring 112 goals in just 207 appearances at Dereham. Despite 11 of his 54 appearances coming from the bench last campaign, and being played on either flank at times, Beaumont still netted 22 times to finish Lynn's second-highest goalscorer.

Harris, who still bagged an impressive 18 goals himself, found his first team opportunities even more limited.

The 28-year-old started just 20 matches and came off the bench 28 times but did become something of a fans' favourite for living up to his super-sub tag by scoring vital goals like the dramatic injury-time winner he got against Peterborough Northern Star in April.

Setchell said: 'We've now got four centre-forwards signed up for next season (Russell Dunkley, Jason Turner, Jamie Forshaw and Danny Beaumont) and unfortunately Robbie fell by the wayside.

'I'd like to thank him for his goals and his attitude during my two years here. They've both been first class.'

The diminutive forward leaves The Walks for the second time – after returning in 2010 from Wisbech – having scored 73 goals in 186 appearances for Lynn. His former club Dereham, and fellow Thurlow Nunn Premier Division outfit Ely City, are among those thought to be interested in securing the striker's signature.

Setchell said earlier this week that he has now completed the 'bulk' of his summer business. Seven of last season's squad have now been released, left, or not re-signed, while six players have signed or re-joined the club as Lynn gear up for life in Evo-Stik Division One South.
