Mitch Forbes popped up with a late equaliser yesterday as Great Yarmouth Town fought back from an early deficit to come away from neighbours Gorleston with a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

The Greens, who were aiming to get a 7-0 home defeat at the hands of Coggeshall last Saturday out of their systems, got their noses in front after just 14 minutes through Peter Lambert.

It seemed for a long time as though that would be the only goal, but four minutes from time the Bloaters were awarded a penalty kick and Forbes converted to ensure a derby watched by a crowd of 562 ended all square.

At Walmer Road, Kirkley & Pakefield put Saturday's 3-1 home reverse at the hands of Brantham behind them by condemning visitors Wroxham to second successive defeat.

The Royals did the damage in the first half, with goals from Jack Herbert and Kyle Baker earning them a 2-0 victory.

A 12th-minute goal was enough as Thetford Town beat Fakenham Town 1-0 at Mundford Road. Jason Clarke was the scorer, rounding off a flowing move by getting on the end of a Bradley Sandell cross.

Fakenham remain third from bottom in the table but are now just a point ahead of Ipswich Wanderers, albeit with four games in hand, after their rivals recorded a shock 1-0 win over leaders Felixstowe & Walton. Coggeshall closed the gap at the top to 11 points, with four games in hand, by winning 1-0 at Haverhill Borough.

Swaffham Town's superb run of wins in Division One was halted at local rivals Downham Town.

The Pedlars went into the derby encounter with 11 victories on the trot behind them but failed to build on an early goal and lost 2-1.

Swaffham went ahead on 15 minutes when Liam Reed pounced on an error from home keeper Joe Clements to prod the ball over the line but Downham hit back before the break - and conjured up a well-worked winner in the second half.

Norwich CBS won 1-0 at Norwich United Under-23s, with a first-half goal from James Page settling it, while Diss were beaten 4-0 at home by Debenham LC.
