Great Melton are the latest Norfolk club to be celebrating a substantial cash award from the England & Wales Cricket Board.
The Knights Norfolk League club have been given a grant of £30,600 which has provided an artifical pitch, a two-bay net cage, three new grass pitches and a pitch mower and roller.
The money comes from the Government's £9.4million Community Club Development programme, which has seen cash pledged to the ECB to upgrade facilities at clubs with junior cricket development programmes.
Great Melton chairman Steve Phoenix said: “The application process was difficult so it was fantastic news when we heard that we had been awarded a grant.
“We have 140 junior cricketers and the provision of a synthetic pitch which can be used for match play and practise purposes is a real bonus.”
Great Melton's first team have won both of their league matches in Division One this season and tomorrow they put their record on the line against the only team in the top tier with more points, Hales.
