Gorleston have closed the gap at the top again as leaders Mildenhall continue to stumble.
The Greens 2-0 home win over Saffron Walden Town coupled with the leaders' 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich Wanderers means the gap is down to 10 points – and the fourth-placed Norfolk side have five games in hand.
Mildenhall are also under pressure from Felixstowe & Walton United, eight behind with two games in hand, and Newmarket, a further point back.
But it is Gorleston who are the real dangers.
For the first time since the September FA Vase match against Wisbech St Mary, managed Ricci Butler named an unchanged line-up – but it did the same trick.
Gorleston were ahead after just eight minutes when a corner to the near post was headed on by Aaron Taylor. His effort was blocked but the ball fell back to Kyle Baker who slotted it home from close range.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men four minutes into the second half when Ryan Fleming hauled down Jack Garrod as he headed into the box with just the keeper to beat. Midway through the half Gorleston doubled their lead. Sub Connor Ingram lined up a free-kick some 30 yards out and hit it over the wall and into the top corner.
Neighbours Great Yarmouth Town were 2-1 home winners over Brantham Town.
Sub Chris Holmes had an instant impact in the second half, firing in a wonderful dipping, swerving volley for a superb opening goal in the 72nd minute.
The visitors were not prepared to roll over and levelled five minutes later before the Bloaters sealed the points with six minutes left through Sean Perfect.
Swaffham threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Hadleigh United. Alex Vincent scored after 29 minutes and added a second on 65, but Hadleigh got one back on the stroke of time and three minutes into added time grabbed an equaliser.
An Ashley Jarvis penalty earned Fakenham an excellent three points away to Stanway Rovers while Thetford Town won by the same scoreline at Wivenhoe Town, Ryan Fuller scoring.
In Division One, Diss lost 4-2 at home to Framlingham Town, King's Lynn Town Reserves beat Braintree 1-0 and Downham drew 2-2 at Needham Market.
