This year's Freehold Trophy competition at Eaton Golf Club was a special occasion as it marked the 20th anniversary of the club's purchase of the course.
The change to a Texas Scramble format proved highly popular and 49 teams turned out to play for the replica of the Open Championship Claret Jug.
The social nature of the day was deemed as important as the golf and there were barbeques at lunchtime and again in the evening. The favourable weather contributed to the atmosphere, with family members joining players in the evening, and the clubhouse packed for the presentation.
After a closely fought competition, the winning team were ex-captains Gavin Sargent and Chris Cooper with April Cooper and David Lonsdale with a net score of 53.75. Just behind were Colin Norris, John Aspland, Neil Augustin and Terry Piggot with 53.85.
