Two years ago King's Lynn Town were playing in front of 198 fans – today that figure could be 10 times higher.

On the corresponding weekend in 2012, the Linnets faced AFC Kempston Rovers in the United Counties League Premier Division at Step Five of the non-league ladder. This afternoon, following back-to-back promotions, the reformed outfit – founded in 2010 – visit FC United.

Manchester's non-league giants have attracted a league best of 1,974 to one of their home matches at Gigg Lane this term. And that's why Gary Setchell admits the trip to the stadium of the fan-owned club, who groundshare with Football League Bury, reminds him just how far his Evo-Stik Premier Division outfit have progressed.

Lynn's boss said: 'These are the type of games you want to be involved in. At the start of the season, FC United away was one of the matches we all looked out for. 'We were facing Irchester and Thrapston 24 months ago, no disrespects to them, but this is where it's at. This is where we want to be. We've given ourselves a good introduction to Step Three and over the next year or two we want to progress at this level. But today, Gigg Lane and FC United will be a world apart from the touchlines I was standing on two years ago, that's a fact.'

Lynn, ninth, will be looking to end a run of four defeats in all competitions in Lancashire.
