Striker Gregg Smith opened his Linnets account as a flurry of second-half goals eased Gary Setchell's men into the next round of the FA Trophy.

It took Lynn until just before the interval to take the lead against a dogged lower-level Drayton. But it was after the break that the floodgates finally opened as The Walks club – who netted twice late on to force a replay first time out on Saturday – set up a home second qualifying round match against same-league Stourbridge on Saturday, November 15.

The hosts had to remain patient in the opening 45 minutes with the visitors' dogged resistance and five-man backline holding firm. Centre-back pairing James Askey and Bradley Smith made countless blocks to deny the troops in blue and gold. Yet once David Bridges had nodded home it was always going to be a different proposition. The midfield headed over goalie Shaun Rowley to ease growing frustration and from that moment it was a straightforward evening.

The Shropshire outfit had to come out and play once the game restarted and the men in yellow picked them off at ease almost immediately. First, red-hot George Thomson outmuscled keeper Rowley to roll the ball into an empty net and take his tally to 15 already for the campaign. Sixty seconds later Jordan Yong claimed his second assist in a minute with Steve Spriggs the beneficiary as Lynn made it three.

The right-sided winger drifted across the pitch to pick up the defender's through ball and smashed into the roof of the net with his weaker left foot. Cohen Bramall reduced the arrears with an inswinging centre that keeper Alex Street should have done better with. Yet even though that shot beat the player known as Pedro at the far post it didn't really matter.

Smith, on his first start and third appearance, slid home Spriggs' neat centre before the provider turned goalscorer for the second time on the night by firing across Rowley into the opposite corner.

The pacy wideman should have taken home the match ball but missed a sitter late on while Bridges screwed wide when well placed.
