Ex-professional David Bell's down to earth attitude has already helped him settle into the King's Lynn Town dressing room, according to Gary Setchell.

The former Norwich City midfielder completed a shock switch to the Linnets from Notts County last week and came off the substitutes bench to make his debut during Saturday's 3-1 victory over Ilkeston. And the humble midfielder showed more than enough class in horribly wet conditions to convince his new manager he has what it takes to succeed in his new semi-pro surroundings.

'I had a good chat with Belly and it's tough to come in when you've never met the lads or seen the level,' said Setchell.

'He just said to me 'I'd feel a lot more comfortable if I watched some of the game, I don't want to just come in and be big time'. He wants to earn his place in the team. He's a great lad and he's fitted in already. He's met everyone around the club and I think everyone who has met him or spoken to him will tell you what a lovely guy he is.

'He done some great things, he done some not so great things, but it was a very difficult pitch. If David Bell can stay fit, and learns how to play Step Three football which he will because he's a good footballer, then he will make an impact before the end of the season, make no mistake about that.'

Bell, 30, has made 13 League One appearances this term but has been sidelined since early November with a hip problem.
