The third teams of Norwich Dragons and Norwich City maintained their Premier Division title challenges on Saturday as rivals Broadland lost ground.

Dragons went four points clear after beating Loddon 2-0 while City won 3-0 at UEA II to move up to second, a point ahead of Broadland who were held to 2-2 draw by visitors City IV.

Dragons started positively and many chances were created by the forward line of Ally Windsor Waite, Jess Haw and Marcy Windsor Waite.

They made it 1-0 when a strike from Ally Windsor Waite was deflected home by Sam Franklin. After the break Hannah Ellis converted one of Dragons' many short corners to make it two on a day when the leaders could have scored a lot more.

City were also on top for long periods against UEA, with the first goal coming from a cross from Olivia Greenway to sister Emily who calmly converted.

The second half saw City step up their game and Zoe Smith saw off three defenders before picking out Holly Totten, who guided the ball home. The final goal came from Olivia Greenway who was well placed on the post to steer home a cross by Ellyn Roberts.

Broadland went behind when a goalmouth melee resulted in keeper Sarah Craig kicking an attempted clearance into her own net. They responded well and thought they had found an equaliser but Lydia Lawrence's effort from close in was ruled out.

A defender's foot on the line from Natasha Blyth's powerful penalty corner strike could not prevent a Broadland equaliser however and Dani Parke struck again minutes later. However City kept going and found an equaliser near the end of a pulsating game through Annabel Pounder.

Dereham III's outside promotion hopes suffered a big blow when they were beaten 4-0 at home by Dragons IV (Caroline Wolfe 2, Fiona Fletcher, Lisa Harwood) while Harleston Magpies IV beat Dragons V 3-0 in a relegation battle and Lowestoft Railway drew 1-1 with Evergreens.

The match of the day in Division One was a dour affair with Pelicans II seeing off their Broadland counterparts 2-0 at King's Lynn to go top, albeit from two more games.

In Division Two Broadland III went down 4-2 at Pelicans III (Amelia Anema, Wendy Anema).
