Norwich United suffered no FA Vase hangover last night as they extended their lead at the top of the table to 10 points by crushing struggling Ely.

The Planters, who lost 3-0 at Ascot United in the fifth round of the national competition on Saturday, underlined their title credentials once more by breezing to their 20th victory in 22 Thurlow Nunn Premier Division matches.

Adam Hipperson and Jamie Spellar found the net as Damian Hilton's troops took a two-goal lead into the interval. Matty Blake, Paul Cook and an own goal completed the scoring in the second period as Norwich – who visit Walsham-le-Willows on Saturday – continued to pull clear of the chasing pack – which is being led by Godmanchester Rovers.
