High-flying Wisbech were given a run for their money by a brave Crusaders side in Eastern Counties Division One.

Crusaders took to the field with a number of changes and the visitors took advantage of a lack of cohesion to score two converted tries to move 14-0 ahead.

Wisbech, who lost their prop to a straight red card for punching, survived a difficult half with a clean sheet.

Crusaders lost their scrum-half Ryan Harrison at the break with an arm injury. With the versatile Rob Loone covering and Jordan Long coming off the bench at fly half, both these players kicked intelligently and soon had the big Wisbech backs turning. Will Crome touched down under the posts to raise Crusaders hopes but Wisbech responded with a converted try of their own. Crusaders pressed again and got their reward with an excellent try from a long drive over in the corner.

Wisbech's tries were scored by Jon Turner, Luke Feaviour and Ben Chapman, with Shane Vickers adding the conversions.
