Champions Swardeston opened their EAPL campaign in impressive fashion at The Common, with a strong bowling performance setting up a four wicket win over Horsford.
There were two wickets apiece for Tom Oxley, Callum Taylor, Joe Gatting and Matthew Taylor as the side they all have to beat got quickly into their stride by dismissing the visitors for just 162.
Horsford had got off to a solid start by reaching 75 for the loss of only two wickets but the dismissal of Luke Findlay for 56 was a huge blow, leading to a below-par total that Swardeston chased down in 32 overs.
The impetus was provided by opener Peter Lambert, who made his intentions clear early on by putting on 35 in an opening partnership with Jordan Taylor, who ended up being dismissed for a duck. Lambert eventually went for 61 in 54 balls, with seven fours and two sixes, before Stephen Gray (27) and Gatting (23 not out) helped complete the job.
