Dereham Town not fazed by their FA Trophy test against higher-level Enfield Town

The Magpies saw off same-tier but highly-rated St Ives Town and higher-level St Neots before bowing out of the cup despite a brave effort against non-league giants Boston United. And Henman is certain those performances can help instil extra confidence into his troops ahead of their home first qualifying round clash against Enfield Town in the Trophy.

Ryman Division One North Dereham's opponents play in their set-up's top-flight and are unbeaten in nine games. But the Magpies' manager expects that will only help his men show their class in the FA competition for clubs from Step One to Four of the part-time pyramid.

Henman, who watched Enfield beat league leaders Margate 3-1 on Tuesday night, said: 'They looked a good side with a lot of athleticisim, pace and energy about them. They're quite a handful from set pieces but they've not got an outstanding threat as such. They had a slow start but their form for the last couple of months has been very good.

'St Neots were the same thing and we managed to beat them and we performed really well against Boston. We've done well against better opposition and when we have slipped up it's been against supposedly lesser teams.'

Dereham lost 4-1 at home to Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday in a match that saw striker Luke Tuttle pick up an ankle injury that could see him sidelined for up to two months. Henman described his absence as a 'big blow' but can call upon Sam Borrer, Jay Eastoe-Smith, Matt Hockley and new signing Nathan Page for this weekend's tie – the winner of which pockets £2,700 in prize money.

'Nathan was at Norwich United when he was 17 and then went to America on a five-year scholarship,' said Dereham's boss of his possible debutant.

'He's an attacking midfielder who can play out wide or through the middle and he looks a really good player. He had a look around at a few clubs now he's home and it's a real feather in our cap he's chosen to join us.'
