After a dismal start to the Ginetta Junior Championship Dereham's Dan Zelos has bounced back in the second half of the season by claiming third place in the championship standings.
Part two started at his home track of Snetterton which dragged him back into fourth place in the title hunt which he improved to third in the latest races around the tight Knockhill Circuit in Fife, Scotland.
In the opening race the sixth form student made a place up from his starting position of sixth but lost a couple of places due to confusion over a safety car period that never materialised.
'I made a good start to gain a position, but at the end of the first lap the safety car boards came out which caused the whole pack to slow down, but then nothing happened and we suddenly went 'green' again! That caught me off-guard and a couple of drivers snuck past,' explained the Evergreen Tyres-sponsored driver.
'After that, I focused on battling back and having discovered some good overtaking opportunities at Knockhill last year, I used my experience to my advantage.'
Zelos wasted little time in recovering the lost ground and scythed his way past his rivals into fourth place, narrowly missing out on a podium place.
A good start to race two saw the 17-year-old claim third place with plenty of pressure from those behind trying to displace the local youngster but he got his head down and went after a top-two position.
Entering the final lap Zelos was in touching distance of the leading pair but needing to defend his podium place, his fifth this season.
'We had really good speed again and I was happy to finish on the podium,' he said.
August has not been a happy month for King's Lynn's Carl Breeze who led the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup Championship heading to his home track of Snetterton before a nightmare weekend which continued in the latest rounds in Fife, Scotland and drops him to third place in the title hunt.
Breeze started race one with a solid fourth place but found himself at the back of the pack in race two after contact on the second lap with Tom Wrigley which left him to struggle home in ninth place.
Starting race three from ninth the Bluechip-supported racer steadily worked his way into fifth place, having relieved Newmarket's Michael Cain of the position three laps from the finish, but Reece Summerfield's defences proved insurmountable.
