King's Lynn's long unbeaten run came to an end last night when they suffered a surprise UCL defeat in Lincolnshire.

The Linnets started brightly but it was the hosts who went in front on 11 minutes as Ryan Oliver headed home from close range.

Worse was to follow, with Rangers doubling their advantage on 24 minutes as Jonnie Hands was allowed two bites of the cherry to beat keeper Alex Street from an acute angle.

Luke Thurlbourne gave the Linnets hope three minutes later with a spectacular 25 yard volley that left keeper Lee Crockett rooted to the spot and the visitors thought they had got back on level terms 10 minutes before the break when a Jack Defty header appeared to have crossed the line. But to the amazement of Lynn players and supporters a goal was not awarded.

The Linnets continued to push for an equaliser after the break, with Defty again and Dan Buhlemann both going close, but Rangers held on to take all three points.
