King's Lynn CC's first road race promotion for many years saw Danny Parker of Greenwheel Cycles win after breaking away, first with Nigel Hobday (Cambridge CC) and, after Hobday faded, with Tom Trimble of CC Ashwell.

It was a sunny morning on the Grimston-Gayton-Gt Massingham circuit, but there was a strong crosswind from the left on the finishing leg and once onto the section protected by police-accredited marshals Parker kept to the right, denying Trimble the chance of getting in his slipstream. Twenty-nine seconds later Wisbech Wheeler Andrew Bean won the sprint for third from Gavin Carter (Stowmarket & District CC).

Other local riders in the top 10 were Philip Large, Iceni Velo's Narborough member who was sixth, 40-year-old Darren Rutterford carrying the black and gold colours of the new Aylsham Road Club eighth and Ben Keeley (9th) top finisher from the promoting club.

The World Endurance Mountain Bike Organisation brought their solo 24-hour championship to Fort William, Scotland, with two Team CCN riders taking part – Richard Dunnett from Occold and Alex Nichol from Norwich. Dunnett finished third overall out of 140-odd classified finishers, while Nichol was third in her category.

There was no time for inattention, let alone sleep, on a course which included a rock-garden from the Downhill course in the Nevis Range. Dunnett admitted to getting a bit carried away early on, but settled down and although from about midnight – half-distance – he could no longer keep solid food down he managed to get enough energy from gels to 'roll' to the finish – still in front of 143 other competitors. Nichol started more steadily, coping with a good deal of knee pain to work her way up the race order.

Dougal Toms (Streetlife Cycles) held national champion Dan Tullett to a 29-second gap while taking second spot in the Eastern Region Cyclo-Cross round at Davy Down. Kieran Jarvis (Gt Yarmouth CC) took fifth, a quick re-mount after the steps helping him survive a late challenge from club-mate Matthew Baker in this youth race. Shaun Aldous (Iceni Velo) again won the race for 40-49s, 15 seconds ahead of Kevin Knox, on a course almost in the shadow of the railway arches at South Ockenden.
