Crusaders will play Swaffham in the final of the Woodforde's Norfolk Junior Cup after both clubs finished emphatic winners of their semi-finals.

Crusaders thumped Dereham 49-12 while Swaffham were 28-3 winners at Broadland-Great Yarmouth.

Crusaders raced into a 14-point lead in five minutes with two dazlling runs by Cullam Slaughter from his own half. Rob Loone converted both.

Dereham hit back when Rudyard Gant made a powerful run in under the posts for a converted try.

But Crusaders increased their grip on the game with a try from James Cooke and Slaughter completed his hat-trick before George King added a brace of tries to give the home side an unasailable 42-7 half-time lead.

A further try from Will Crome, following swift handling between the backs, increased Crusaders' lead soon after the break – Loone completing a 100pc success with the conversion.

Dereham heads never dropped and they finished the stonger side with Gant and Jack Edwards always in the thick of things – the latter scoring a late try under the posts with a strong run.

Swaffham travelled to the coast full of confidence after recent good performances in the league. But the first half was a close affair with both side's defences difficult to break down. In the end two penalties from Spencer gave the men from West Norfolk a 6-3 interval lead.

Swaffham stepped up a gear after the interval with Griffiths scoring near the corner within five minutes of the restart. Spencer converted to take the score to 13-3 – and from then on it was almost one way traffic.

The hosts made some effort to prise a gap in the Swaffham defence, but their resolve and effort kept them from the line.

Swaffham went further ahead when Griffiths once again broke the line to run 50 metres and score under the posts. Their third try came in a similar way but this time was rounded off by Jode after some intricate passing near the line.

The last try came when the pack recycled the ball quickly for Daniel Bird to crash over and score in what may be his last game this season before he returns to Wales.

• Wisbech kept the pressure on Eastern Counties Division One leaders Cantabrigian with a 50-14 win over Mersea Island.

There were hat-tricks of tries from James Napier and Joe Barfoot and two from Shane Vickers, who also kicked five conversions.

Coach Ben McCall said: 'I'm very pleased as it was a good result but more importantly everyone came through the game with no serious injury worries as the game against Cantabs keeps getting closer. The only sad thing was to see them winning again.'

Cantabrigian beat Ipswich YMCA 22-0 to stay four points ahead having played a game less.
