The next two weeks will play a big part in how the season develops for Beccles as they play two crucial home matches before the Christmas break.

First up this week is Sudbury who, after a flying start in the opening game of the season, now find themselves in a similar league position to Beccles. If Beccles win, they will likely shoot two or three places up the league table, giving themselves some breathing space and reward for their endeavours so far this season.

After having two weeks without a fixture, the team have been training hard and maintaining fitness levels.

The conditions over recent weeks are unlikely to allow for an open and running game so the big Beccles pack will need to make the most of the day.

In the pack, the only absentee will be giant lock Paul Wilson, who is still recovering from a hand injury. Replacing him in the second row will be the mobile and abrasive Cornelius, who will pack down alongside Rix. Also back this week is Rob Wilson, who will bring real power and pace to the back row alongside Hinsley and Maeer.

Skipper Lake continues to lead from the front and will make up the front row trio alongside Porter and Ling, who have both performed well this season.

Outside the forwards, the backs will remain unchanged with Murray continuing at 10 and linking up with Sale at No 9. The electric and direct partnership of Davey-Durak, Vasey-Lark and Rayner will make up a dangerous back three with Payne and Wade continuing in the centre. Wade continues to prove to be a high quality kicker.

Kick-off is at 2.15pm.

• Lakenham-Hewett continue league action in Eastern Counties Division Two at home against Broadland this weekend.

Broadland have plenty of wins under their belt already this season and will be looking to get revenge for last season's 29-19 defeat at Lakenham Hewett.
