Norfolk are broadening their horizons with a match-up against Tyne Tees & Wear this Friday in Newbiggin-by-the-sea.

County coach Glen Saffer is leading a 10-strong team to the North East in an effort for the boxers to start building up some valuable experience, against a tough outfit, ahead of the new season.

Juinor ABA semi-finalist Nathan Dale, and team captain, has had to step three kilos to box at 63kg and is looking to make his mark against Matthew Wall, who reached the final of the 63kg category in the junior ABAs this year, and put himself back in the England frame.

“It's been a long while since we last had a representative fixture with Norfolk and it's something that I want to do more often,” said Saffer. “Each boxer will receive a medal and a Norfolk vest and it should be something that boxers in the county strive to achieve.

“There's no doubt that this represents a stiff test for all involved but I'm sure it's a challenge that all the boxers are looking forward to,” he added.
