An understrength Lowestoft and Yarmouth team had an afternoon to forget in their final London 2NE game as they were run ragged by an impressive Chelmsford outfit.

'The main objective was to fulfil the fixture, see out the season and move on for next season,' explained director of rugby Matt Jary.

'We faced a very efficient and pacey side with only 16 men due to late call-offs and unavailabilities, several of whom were 2nd XV players at the last minute.

'We then lost one to a dislocated clavicle, had two more with twisted ankles, and two damaged shoulders in the front row. To their immense credit they played on with 15 until the final 10 minutes, but never gave up despite being totally overwhelmed.'

Chelmsford moved above Holt into fourth place as a result of the win.
