Wymondham battered First Bus 8-0 in their opening Summer Cup Preliminary Round clash.

But they are unlikely to find things quite so comfortable in the next round as they face a trip to the mighty Bob Carter, who beat Wymondham 7-1 in last year's Summer Cup Final. In the only other preliminary round tie Division Two side Diss entertain Division One side Hevingham and will hope to produce the first giant killing act of the season.

In the new slimmed down Norfolk Summer League there are just six teams in each of the three divisions.

Bob Carter will start favourites to retain their title in Division One with Wymondham likely to be the biggest threat followed by Kirby Bedon, who Carter beat 7-1 in their first match.

The opening match in Division Two saw Thorpe Marriott and Diss Green draw 4-4. In Division Three Framingham Earl opened with a 5-3 home win against Hingham Green.

Hingham is now the only club in the Summer League fielding two teams. Both are in Division Three, where and Hingham Yellow beat Hingham Green 6-2 in their first match.

The Norfolk CSMBA Annual General Meeting will take place on Sunday June 2nd at Hevingham at 10.30am.

The Tens League AGM will be held at Kirby Bedon on Monday 10th June at 7.30pm. The Bure League AGM will be held at Woodbastwick on Wednesday, July 10 at 7.30pm.
