Carl Breeze has just one step to go following his return to his former Ginetta Super Cup team after recording a pair of second places in the latest round of the championship held at Oulton Park.

The King's Lynn racer was prepared to sit out the season due to budget restraints but a late arrangement was brokered with Tollbar Racing which saw Breeze contest the opening three rounds before returning to his former team TCR.

'The Tollbar car is an up-graded G50 while my former TCR car is a pure G55 and therefore newer and an all-round better handling car,' said Breeze on his impending swap.

After qualifying fourth fastest for the first race, he went on to take an excellent second place and also posted the fastest lap and set a new lap record.

Scorching off the line at the start, Breeze saw off the battling Tom Sharp and Andrew Richardson at the opening corner to quickly move into second place before closing in on leader Tom Ingram.

Breeze applied pressure throughout the race but Ingram was not to be denied and the King's Lynn man settled for a superb second place on his return to the TCR squad.

Race two was to prove more difficult but Breeze once more showed his experience, dealing with a sticking throttle, and he still managed to repeat his opening race result.

'Two podiums is great for our first weekend back,' said TCR team principal Lee Brookes.

'In the second race Carl had a problem with the throttle sticking flat out, he had to flick it back after braking and then get it ready for the corner, really well done to him for that.'

• Two solid Renault Clio Cup results have put Josh Files back in the title hunt, but a first victory of the season still eludes the Poringland racer.

In the opening race, Files was annoyed with himself for dropping two places at the start but after a safety car interlude he used the restart to good effect to jump up to fourth place.

However, in trying to get on to the podium, he made an error and slipped back to finish fifth.

'I just pushed a little too hard into Old Hall Corner, causing me to go wide,' admitted Files.

In Sunday's race, Files managed second place, holding firm from the challengers behind but thwarted by Stefan Hodgetts ahead, who secured his second victory of the weekend.

'The championship still isn't out of the question, but there is still a long way to go. I need to keep plugging away and keep the consistency flowing,' said Files, who is supported by the Direct Debit's Big Break campaign.

Will Goff made a wining return to the Porsche Carrera Cup at Oulton Park with the Dereham racer clinching a pair of victories in the Pro-Am 2 category.

'Everything was fine, but the gym programme starts on Monday,' said Goff after his first success and 18 tough laps of Oulton Park had sapped his strength.
