We should have made it three games in less than seven days on Monday, but our match at Romulus was postponed due to more snow.

It was unfortunate as, like all the lads, I rushed around at work all day only to get a text saying the game was off for the second time at about 2pm. I really don't understand why these pitches (Romulus play on a 3G surface) are called 'all weather' pitches – they're clearly not.

It's a shame the match was off because we're on a good run at the moment. We have to keep pushing Coalville all the way. And we have now won our last three games, with the latest two being against Lincoln and Rainworth at home.

Every result is earned in Evo-Stik Division One South, although on paper we were expected to pick up six points from the two fixtures, and you have to work really hard to pick up maximum points. And I believe hard work is something we have based our season on so far.

We certainly made hard work of the Lincoln game last Tuesday. After an unacceptable first-half performance, which saw us go into the break a goal down, we were a different side in the second 45.

When you're not playing well the interval can be crucial because it gives the management team time to change systems and players – but it also gives players time to sit and think. We all knew the performance hadn't been good enough and we showed a real desire to put it right in the second half. We got early goals which deflated the visitors and we eventually ran out comfortable 5-2 winners.

The game was also Jamie T's (Thurlbourne) final appearance and news came out the next day that he had joined Spalding United. J will be missed among the group. He is a good lad and a really talented player so it's a shame he has gone. I wish him all the best.

The latest in our hard-earned victories was against Rainworth at The Walks on Saturday. It was certainly not a pretty game, but three more crucial points were gained, which is all that matters.

I don't think either side created too many chances in the first half and I think the phrase 'win the battle before you can play' describes the game perfectly. We did take the lead through a Spriggsy (Steve Spriggs) penalty following great work from Tolls (Shane Tolley).

Shane has proven to be a really good signing from the gaffer (Gary Setchell). A lot of his hard work probably goes unnoticed by some, but as players we appreciate his work off the ball and of course the goals he gets – which is second nature for him.

We created a few more half-chances in the second half and it was good to see a new signing coming on and impressing. Charlie (Butt) has joined for the remainder of the season and he will play a large part thanks to his versatility.

He was unfortunate not to get a goal and he gave us another dimension late on with his work rate. We managed to get our second and finish the game off. Rossy (Ross Watson) got his name on the score sheet again. With the amount of shots he has it's probably been a bit overdue.

I'm also well aware that he isn't a fan of being called Rossy so that's what I opt for. The extra few pictures that will have been taken of him as a result of his goal have come at a good time as I believe he has just got himself some hair straightening cream so he will be looking lovely.

As I touched on earlier we need to make sure we put together a good unbeaten run. I know we are capable of it but I won't be able to contribute for the next two games.

My ban, after a couple of red cards, is for two games. So I miss Gresley away on Saturday and Newcastle Town at home the following week.

I will be like everyone, a supporter, for both games and I'll be giving the lads my encouragement and cheering them on like all the rest of our fans. Hopefully by the time you read my next column we have won another hard battle and watched us take three points away from Gresley.
