I'd like to start by putting the record straight. I meant my second goal against Peterborough Northern Star last Tuesday night.

It definitely wasn't a cross, despite what the gaffer (Gary Setchell) and the boys might say. I played a one-two and just shot to be honest because my legs had gone.

I looked up and saw their keeper off the line and just thought - I'm going to have that. I've taken a lot of stick for it from the lads but I like a laugh and it's why I've nominated myself for goal of the season - although I'm sure Luke Thurlbourne will win that as he scores great goals for fun.

A goal is a goal though, whether it's from one yard or 30 yards, and I was more pleased that they came from everywhere on the night. The first two were quality team goals and I take more joy out of those than any other type of goal.

It wasn't that unusual for me to be playing in midfield in the semi-final either because at Stamford we played 3-5-2 and I played as part of a three in the middle of midfield.

I'd say I'm an out-and-out centre-half but Setch told me he wanted me to play there and I just wanted to do a job for him and the team. Whether he tells me to play left-back, right-back or up front I just want to do my best.

You just want to be in the team at the end of the day no matter where you're asked to play. I'll admit I really enjoyed it - mainly because we won (7-0) and kept another clean sheet - but it was nice to be able to get on the ball and express myself a bit more.

Very often, when we go away, you have to head and kick the ball for 65 minutes as a centre-back before you even get chance to get the ball down and play.

We changed our formation against PNS and the lads made it work so you have to credit them. Robbie Harris was superb on the right, as was Danny Beaumont on the left, and Ryan (Fryatt) and Bully (Dan Buhlemann) were different gear.

Credit also has to go to the lads who got us through the earlier rounds too and although the league is our main priority we'd love to go on and win the cup as well and get promoted as double-winners.

The night was topped off by Ciaran Beales and Wardy (Chris Ward) coming on and we all like to see the youngsters do well. It's nice to see talent coming through for the future and it brings some fresh banter into the dressing room.

People forget how young a lot of the first-team players are though, like Jordan Yong and Ashley Deeney. They're both in their early 20s and they've been absolutely brilliant. I can't praise them and all the youngsters enough.

On Saturday, you have to give credit to Wellingborough for how they started as they put us under pressure. But we weathered it, went in 1-0 up, and ending up winning 5-0. We might of needed a bit of luck on the day but we deserved it in the end and our winning mentality just keeps growing.

We've got a big three days coming up as PNS will be really fired-up but we need to take it game by game. Holbeach will be a really tough place to go on Monday so if we win on Saturday there's no point thinking about Long Buckby next weekend because we'll slip up.

Playing two games in three days will be tough but we're not complaining. Setch wants us in on Sunday to have a bit of a massage and credit goes to him for doing all he can to make sure we're at our best and ready.

The lads really look after themselves and our fitness work has paid off already this season - those levels are really going to be needed over what's going to be a massive Easter weekend for our title hopes.
